New Motorola tablet stops by the FCC

Posted on: July 7, 2011

A new device from Motorola stopped by the FCC and it looks like it just might be the next Xoom 2. That's because this tablet identified as IHDP56LU2 had dimensions very similar to the original Xoom, with a length of 259mm and a width of 166mm, which is just slightly smaller than the first Xoom (249.1mm x 167.mm).

The slate was approved by the FCC for WiFi, Bluetooth, CDMA, and LTE connectivity. This means that it's probably going to be another LTE slate from Motorola. We don't know what it will pack, but it might very well come equipped with a Tegra 3 processor, which is expected to become available in tablets by the end of the year. Of course, it may just as well feature a dual-core Tegra 2 chip.

The upcoming slate from Motorola was briefly seen in a Verizon ad earlier, but no further details were provided. Who knows what Motorola has in store for us, but it looks like it's going to be worth the wait. Maybe the new tablet is also the reason why Motorola has recently dropped prices for the original Xoom.
